Edmonton Summer Family Session

This shoot is both an anniversary session and a sweet little family session! I’m so happy we had some bright, sunny, sun for this shoot. The first time we tried to schedule this, we got a gray sky. Don’t underestimate how beautiful an overcast sky can look, you can think of it as a giant softbox for your portraits! Especially if we’re shooting at midday when the sun is at its harshest. With that being said, however, if you’re picturing that dreamy golden glow of sunset light then there’s no shame in rescheduling, like what the Smith family did.

If I could control the weather for your session I would trust me! But seeing how I can’t I will always be as flexible as I can. So that I can accommodate the weather and light you had envisioned for your pictures.  It sets the mood and tone for your pictures and has such a powerful effect! No amount of photoshopping can emulate that soft warm light.

We got that perfect golden hour light for the Smith family and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way! Their three beautiful children were a delight to photograph, I don’t often get a chance to photograph young children but it was a lot of fun. We finished off our shoot with some of my favourite photographs, playtime! I cherish these types of images the most. I, of course, think it’s great to get them smiling, and looking at the camera. But the ones where they’re relaxing, having fun with each other are my personal favourites.
